Wonderful about those bugs! We don't have them in Colorado, but when I grew up in Missouri we used to tie a thin string to one & walk around with it flying. We then released it! They are interesting, but not so fun in the house!
Thanks, Linda! Wow, you were a brave child to tie a thin string around those bugs - I don't want to get that close, but it would be fun to have a "flying balloon" of sorts. I agree, they are especially not fun in the house. =)
I love Humvee bug! So descriptive!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Penny! I think if I were another insect I'd steer clear of these suckers...and as a human, I do! =)

DeleteGreat description! I also tend to stay away from those bugs. Yikes!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carrie! I try to stay away from them if I can, too. But they seem to be everywhere from April to October in the desert - not just June. =)
DeleteProbably just as well you didn't include a photo, Bridget. Your poem was enough to give me shivers!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michelle! These fellas give me the shivers on the trail (where they belong) and in the house (where they don't). =)
DeleteThanks, Liz! I wish I saw the humor in them when they are flying at my face. LOL! =)
ReplyDeleteLove "humvee bug!" Perfect!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary Lee! I definitely wouldn't want him rumbling over my toe...or any other part of me. LOL! =)
DeleteI like "square and stout" because that's so different from most insects!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Keri! June bugs are quite unique in the square stoutness. =)
DeleteI love June bug rumbles! Sweet and clever poem.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Janice!
