In honor of Monday's holiday, here is another perspective on Labor Day -
it is not always celebrated in September. :o)
Forty-two weeks,
ready to go.
Off to the hospital
for baby to show.
Contractions increase,
"Breathe 1-2-3!"
Can't get comfy,
do what with my knees?
Finally Doc says,
"Give a big push!"
Out comes baby,
head, belly and tush.
Oh, Bridget, you are right, not always in September!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda! Yes, "Labor" comes in many forms. = )
DeleteO thank you for this sweet daffynition Bridget.
ReplyDeleteIt brings back the tush push hours!
And when I saw at Jone's blog that you had a Labor Day poem, it was a great set up, as I expected something else..
Luv this - thank you.
Too. Much. Fun.
Thank you, Jan! I love your word "daffynition"! I'm glad you enjoyed the twist on Labor Day. = )
DeleteLove it. I'll be laughing at the knees line, all day.
DeleteThat brought a big smile!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Douglas! Glad you enjoyed my poem. = )
DeleteI'm smiling, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tara! Smiling right back at you... = )
DeleteWonderful, Bridget! I especially love the last line! = )
ReplyDeleteThank you, Becky! That teeny-tiny baby takes a lot of "Labor", but is so worth it. = )
DeleteYes, quite a different kind of labor day. Well done! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jama! Labor has various forms. = )
DeleteLove it! Thanks for making me smile after a long, long day!
ReplyDeleteThank YOU, Linda, for reading and commenting on my poem. You made me smile. = )
DeleteLabor indeed and well worth a celebration. I guess we could say this kind of labor is celebrated every time someone celebrates a birthday.
ReplyDeleteExactly, Violet! A lot of labor goes into all of us having birthdays - on various levels. = )
DeleteHi there Bridget - love how you played with the word 'labor.' Truly a celebration of birth, joy, and love! :) And yes, labor! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Myra! The labor is always worth it when a sweet baby is the outcome. = )
DeleteHA!! Laughing along with all the other PFers!! Well played!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary Lee! I enjoy a good play on words. = )
DeleteIn the case of my first daughter, it was Labor dayS. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, my, Karen, your labor is extra special and I'm sure so is your daughter. = )
DeleteI enjoyed it too, Bridget...but mine would have to include this stanza:
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling the urge
but I can't scratch that itch...
Babe emerges through belly--
Oh, what a stitch.
Perfect addition, Heidi, for all those who labored through the C-section and recovery! Ouch! = )
DeleteOkay, Bridget, I'm going to try this one more time... I tried to leave a comment twice on Friday, but apparently it got swallowed up both times. :o/ Ha! You thought you could fool me with that labor day set up, but I know how your mind works. ;) "Do what with my knees" totally cracked me up! And "tush"? Quite possibly one of my top 10 favorite words. Thanks for your delightful sense of humor!
ReplyDeleteSorry, Michelle! I've been told by other people that commenting can be tricky. Great minds think alike - I love your sense of humor, too. Yes, "tush" is one of those words that capture so much in 4 little letters. = )
