Lovely! Coincidentally we had heavy rain here in my part of Australia last night. I was so desperate to share the sound that I recorded it and sent it t my husband!
Humidity can feel strong enough to hold something up and keep it hanging there, can't it? I like the way you take us through different stages of storm. Fat raindrops do make a wonderful song! :-)
Thanks, Tabatha! We only have humidity here in the desert during the monsoon season and it is nothing like the humidity back east or in the south - thankfully. But rain makes the humidity worth it. =)
It has been so oppressively hot in Seattle lately, I really long to hear some rain outside. We're in the middle of a real drought. I love the fact you recorded the sound for your husband. When we're far off, we get often get images of home, but seldom do we get sounds. Neat idea.
Like Linda said, this has been the rainiest summer I can remember in 50 years in Colorado. I have loved everything about it- watching the rain pound, the sounds, the smells. And you have captured it so beautifully here. It seems like our rainy season is at an end now and I'm sad. And yes, I wish we could send it to California too.
These are wonderful haiku, Bridget! I love the natural progression and they each have a lovely "ahhh" moment. We've got a whole lot more than cicada's song hanging in our central Florida humidity– whole marching bands complete with mascots. And that's just for a start. I do miss the SW desert!
Thank you, Michelle! I can't even imagine the humidity you feel in Florida! I love the idea of a mascot to go along with your moist environment. hee-hee =)
"fat raindrops" is my favorite - love how you've celebrated the rain. I, too, wish we could send some over to our CA friends. We've had plenty of both this first part of summer on the SC coast - rain and humidity! And mosquitos....
Rains came to Long Island last week, Bridget. Perhaps, you would like to add this poem with a photo to the next gallery that I will be announcing. I just posted Spring's Symphony at http://beyondliteracylink.blogspot.com/2015/07/springs-symphony-unveiled.html.
Thank you, Carol! I would love to add this poem, but am not sure how to do it with a photo (one of my own? from the internet?). Spring's Symphony is amazing! =)

ReplyDeleteThank you, Sally! I love the idea of recording the rain to share. May many more drops fall on you this season. =)
DeleteWe've had some heavy rains lately also, and I just love the sounds. "Fat raindrops"...."my favorite song" - so true!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Donna! I love when those fat raindrops lull me to sleep. =)
DeleteI like the first stanza -- the humidity is hanging heavy on us this morning and the frogs and cicadas are competing with each other!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Keri! I bet you have quite the symphony of critters in your neck of the woods - fun! =)
DeleteYou captured the recent monsoons perfectly -- the humidity, the noises, the fatness of the raindrops. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary Lee! Getting rain here in the desert is always a blessing - if only we could push the clouds a little to our west for dry California.
DeleteWe've had more rain this early summer than I even remember, Bridget. You've captured our monsoon, too! Love that ending!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda! It is so interesting to hear of all the rain in different parts of the country - except CA! Enjoy those drops from heaven. =)

ReplyDeleteSeattle is hot? Wow! Wish we could send rain to you and CA. I agree, Sally's idea to record rain is so great. =)
DeleteThese are really quite nice, Bridget!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Diane! High compliment from a highly qualified haiku writer! =)

ReplyDeleteThanks, Carol! I wish the rain would come down everywhere it is needed. You all in CO are going to have beautiful flowers later this summer! =)
